22/08/2013: Spanish station Cadena Cope believes Gareth Bale‘s move to Real Madrid will be announced on Friday for a fee of just under €100million. The Tottenham winger has also been strongly linked with United over the course of the summer.

22/08/2013: Raul‘s agent Gines Carvajal has revealed how the Spaniard came close to joining United when leaving Real Madrid. Confirming speculation at the time, Carvajal said on Radio Marca that Schalke’s Felix Magath had to fight off competition from the Reds and only succeeded because the veteran striker was not assured of a regular place. The 36-year-old is currently with Al Sadd.

22/08/2013: Everton manager Roberto Martinez has revealed that there has been no fresh approach from United for Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines. After rejecting a double bid for the Goodison pair, the Spaniard has told EvertonTV: “We’re still in the same position as we were a few days ago.”

22/08/2013: The Daily Express says United’s chances of signing Luka Modric have suffered a blow after his Real Madrid team-mate Xabi Alonso broke his foot in training on Wednesday. The former Liverpool playmaker will be out for around three months, which has apparently prompted manager Carlo Ancelotti to place a ban on any of his other midfielders leaving the Bernabeu this summer.
