12 Simple Tips For Relationship Bliss

12 Simple Tips For Relationship Bliss
Fairy-tale love is hard to find—here are some tips for keeping your relationship healthy and happy.

One of the most common questions we hear is, “How do we make our relationship work?” The answers are complicated, varied, and, after a while, can start to sound like muddled platitudes. But these commonplace sayings get repeated because they work. With this in mind, we pulled together 12 cliches that, in fact, reveal simple, tried-and-true advice for having a healthy, happy relationship. Read on and let us know what you think:

1. Mind your manners. “Please,” “thank you” and “you’re welcome,” can go a long way in helping your partner remember that you respect and love him and don’t take him for granted. Relationship Rehab: 12 Steps To Becoming A Happier Couple In 2012

2. Variety is the spice of life. Studies have shown that dullness can lead to dissatisfaction with a relationship. Trying something new can be as simple as visiting an unfamiliar restaurant or as grand as a backpacking trip through Sri Lanka. Discoveries you make together will keep you feeling close.

3. The couple that plays together, stays together. Find a sport or hobby that you both love (no, watching TV does not count) and make that a priority in your relationship. Camping, biking, building model trains… whatever it is, find something you enjoy doing together.

4. Fight right. In order to have productive arguments, keep these rules in mind. Don’t call your spouse names. When things get really tough, take a break from the argument. Let the other person finish his/her sentences. Don’t initiate a discussion when you’re angry. 5 Things That (Unexpectedly) Turn Men Off

5. I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine. No one likes demands (unless you’re in a BDSM role play), but everyone can appreciate a compromise. If you want your lover to do something and you’re not sure he’ll be agreeable, the quickest way to avoid a confrontation is to sweeten the deal. For example: “Sure, I’ll watch Monday Night Football if you take me to see the next movie of my choice.”

Amosun Gives N2m Lifeline To Ailing “Pa Kasumu”

The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has donated the sum of N2m towards the medical treatment of ailing Nollywood Yoruba actor, Mr. Olukayode Olugbenga Odumosu popularly known as Pa Kasumu.

Making the donation on behalf of the governor at Mushin, the Lagos state residence of the actor, Secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwa said that the governor heard about Pa Kasumu’s illness on the television few days back and was deeply worried about his health condition.

“There was no formal request for help from the Governor of Ogun state. Like everybody else, we saw the news that the actor is indisposed on television and he instructed us to go and find out the exact state of health of Pa Kasumu. It was at that time that somebody said he’s from Ogun state. He didn’t even realize that he is one of us”, the SSG said.

The Governor noted that Pa Kasumu typifies the large pool of successful indigenes of the state that have served the nation in their various areas of endeavour and expertise and must not be left to suffer in his trying period.

“Wherever and whenever we see anybody who is one of us, particularly people like Pa Kasunmu, who has made their marks and helped to put Nigeria and Ogun state on the map, we are more than happy to identify with them and assist them”, the governor added.

Governor Amosun also called on colleagues, family members and well-wishers of Pa Kasumu to rally round him for support, saying more than anything else, he needs to be shown love at this particular time.

Speaking, the Co-ordinator of the “Save Pa Kasumu initiative”, Mrs Olajide Idowu, while thanking Governor Amosun for the gesture, noted that the donation was unprecedented as no state government, group or individual have made such a singular donation to the course of saving the life of the ailing actor.

“I was sceptical when the Ogun state government said they were going to assist him and the reason is simply that we have had a lot of empty promises from various quarters in the past. But when the SSG called me that they would bring the cheque I was so happy. This morning when he said he was on his way, I said Ogun state means business. They’ve really done Pa Kasumu proud. This at least will go a long way for him”, Mrs Olajide said.

Responding, a visibly sick Pa Kasumu thanked the state government for the lifeline and requested other public-spirited individuals and corporate bodies to come to his aid.

“Though I cannot speak very well now, but I want to thank Governor Amosun for this. I want the government to take me out of this noisy area”, he said.

In their respective reactions, Pa Kasumu’s colleagues in the theatre world including Dele Odule and Bolaji Amusan a.k.a Mr. Latin who witnessed the cheque presentation thanked the state government for the gesture extended to one of them.

“This is beyond our comprehension. We never knew a government could be so passionate about the plight of one of us”, Odule remarked.

Man Who Kidnapped Son Arrested By DSS

A 48-year-old man suspected of masterminding the kidnap of his 9-year old son in Badagry area of Lagos, has been arrested by the Lagos state command of the Department of State Services (DSS).

The Director, Lagos State Command of the DSS, Mr. Victor Achu, told journalists that the suspect, Adeyinka Adebayo, actually came to report the kidnap incident on October 3rd at the command.

According to the DSS boss, “The command got a report of the kidnap of a 9 year old boy and acted promptly by swinginging into action.

Preliminary investigations confirmed the kidnap of the boy by one Kehinde Alonge, who demanded a ransom of N350, 000 for his release and directed that the money be paid into a UBA account.

“The account was later discovered to be owned by one Taiwo Faloye. After series of tactical planning, the owner of the account and Kehinde were arrested at Ilesha, Osun state, while trying to withdraw the money.”

In the course of interrogation, Kehinde Alonge, a 27 year old hairstylist fingered the 48 year old father as being the master mind. But when our crew interviewed him, he insisted Kehinde was responsible.

“He is lying. I was in Ilesha when he called me to come to Lagos that some people owed him money.

His father even gave me N3, 000 for transport. “When we got to Ilesha, he sent another N3, 750 worth of recharge cards for his feeding

“He even called his son on phone daily. He was the one that asked me to demand N350, 000; however, at the end of the bargain, he said I should accept N200, 000. Since I had no bank account, I asked one of my relatives to give me his account details. But we were arrested at the point of withdrawal.”

Following Alonge’s indictment and Adebayo’s confession, the DSS boss said the couple will be arraigned soon, as he warned parents and relatives to stop committing crimes against their loved ones just to make money.

Ngige Takes Campaign Train To Nanka, Ichida And Obosi

The flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress in the Anambra state governorship election, Senator Chris Ngige is getting more support and endorsements from individuals and groups, including traditional rulers, as he continues his campaign tour of communities in the state.

Senator Ngige visited Nanka, Ichida, Enugu Ukwu and Obosi to seek the votes of the electorate in the November 16 governorship poll.

Accompanied by senior officials of the party and delegates from the United States embassy in Nigeria, Senator Ngige made his way to Austica Memorial College in Nanka, Orumba north, where a funeral reception was being held for the late mother of the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Awka.

The APC governorship candidate then proceeded to address party supporters at the town’s square.

From Nanka, the APC governorship candidate headed to the palace of his Royal Majesty, Charles Ezeudogu, the Igwe of Ichida, in Aniocha local government area, where he got endorsements from the Monarch and his Council of Chiefs.

The Ngige campaign train then began their journey to Obosi not just to campaign, but to also felicitate with the people of the community on the occasion of the Ofalla festival.

The route leading to the mini stadium was filled with crowd of people, making it difficult to ply, as everyone wanted to catch a glimpse of the APC candidate.

I Have No Faith In Proposed National Conference– Oshiomhole

Edo state Governor Comrade Adams Oshiomhole says he has no faith in the proposed National Conference.

Though speaking based on personal opinion and not that of his party, the APC, Oshiomhole said the whole idea of the conference was flawed from the beginning as it has no agenda.

The Governor said this today when he received members of the Presidential Advisory Committee on National Conference on a courtesy call to the Edo State Government House.

Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on National Conference, Professor Femi Okunronmu said they were in the state to consult on the agenda, the length and the legal framework of the conference.

Some politicians, have expressed mixed reactions over the proposed setting up of a committee on national conference as announced by President Goodluck Jonathan since the announcement.

Most politicians feel that there was a need for such a forum but expressed divergent opinions on modalities.

The president had, in his Independence Day broadcast, promised to set up a committee to define the modalities for the convocation of a national conference.

The primary duty of the National Conference is to address and find solutions to the key problems afflicting Nigeria since 1914 to date.

The concern is to remove all obstacles which have impeded the growth and development of the country and to construct a new constitutional frame-work in terms of the system of government-structurally, politically economically, socially, culturally and religiously.

The enlightenment sitting however turned violent, making it the first sitting of the committee to turn rowdy even though it is the fourth state visited by the committee, after the Edo state governor re-appeared at the town hall sitting held at Emagwero college, Sapele Road Benin City and continued his opposition to the conference and this did not go down well with some of the participants who shouted him down, making Governor Oshiomhole to abandon the place and returned to his office.

APC Receives Decampees From APGA

The All Progressives Congress in Anambra State is getting enlarged as supporters of opposition parties are beginning to identify with it.

In Egwuisigo and Njikoka Local Government Area, the party received over 500 decampees from the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA and the United Progressives Party, including the former chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. George Ozodinobi.

The APC governorship candidate, Senator Chris Ngige described the action as a positive development and an enhancement to aspiration of the party to win the governorship election.

Supporters of the All Progressives Congress and residents of the different communities in Njikoka Local Government Area received the Ngige campaign train at Abagana, one of the major towns in the area.

“The big surprise of the day is the official presentation of the former chairman of the board of trustees of the United Progressives Party, George Ozodinobi, who recently led hundreds of his followers to join forces with the APC. Ozodinobi is an indigene of Njikoka.

The Ngige campaign organisation also received 11 sienna buses from Mr. Ozodinobi to boost its campaign activities.

The campaign team got a rousing reception at Oraifite, Ekwuisigo, where Senator Chris Ngige handed over the party’s symbol to members who left the All Progressives Grand Alliance for the APC.

One of the biggest decampees from the community is honourable Azuka Okwosa, former senatorial candidate from APGA and a close ally to the founder of APGA, late Chukwuemeka Ojokwu.

Senator Ngige met with traditional rulers from Anambra North Senatorial District to formally inform them of his ambition, and to be briefed on the areas of their needs.

The team also visited Achalla, Idemili North Local Government Area, where it wound up its activities for the day. Although they arrived late, residents surged out in large numbers to welcome them.

I Remain A Member Of The G7 Governors — Gov. Aliyu

Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger state has said that contrary to reports, he remains a member of the G7 governors.

Speaking when members of the civil service union paid him a courtesy call at the government house in Minna, Governor Aliyu explained that as a leader of the G7 governors, he remains committed to the cause of the aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party.

He said the governors are still discussing with President Goodluck Jonathan and can only take a decision on their political future after the Discussion.
