Boko Haram: Soldier killed after General Buratai’s house is attacked in Borno

Gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram sect, on Tuesday, evening invaded the residence of the Commander of the Joint Task Force (JTF), Niger Delta, Major General Tukur Buratai at Buratai District in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, killing one security personnel on guard with others injured.

This is even as the terrorists invaded Bama Council Area of the state, which led to a heavy exchange of gunfire between them and security operatives.

The Bama incident is coming barely an hour after Governor Kashim Shettima, drove with his convoy through the town at about 8 pm on Tuesday, on his way to Maiduguri.

Buratai is about 215 kilometres from Maiduguri, the state capital.

The village, a few months ago was attacked by suspected terrorists where they killed a businessman.

A resident of Buratai who, who sought anonimity, said “the suspected terrorists ambushed soldiers who were on guard at the general’s mansion in the village at about 7 pm on Tuesday with gunfire, but the terrorists overpowered the security operatives using Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDS, and Rocket Propelled Launchers.

“They killed one soldier after setting the building ablaze”.
